FINAL WORDS: Technology in Music Education 2021

Wow! This semester is over! This has been my one of my favourite Music Ed units so far in my 1.5 years of uni! There was so much to learn and take in from the PoL (Presentation of Learning) - it was so inspiring seeing fellow peers displaying their own projects and performances where every one was able to delve into their own little world within Music Education; teaching what they had learnt and the new skills they can bring to the table as a music teacher... we're going to be the coolest Music Teachers one day!!

I definitely believe that every music educator should explore the digital audio workstation and live performance; not only to extend your own musical abilities, but to teach fundamentals to the upcoming generation of new musicians. We do live in a digital age where music technology plays such a vital part within the recording industry. I think students would thoroughly enjoy studying digital music; such as creating electro-acoustic works and live performance. Particularly, I want to see more female producers! This is something I could definitely see myself fighting for as a female producer and educator.

Furthermore, each seminar was so rewarding, and I am so grateful to have learnt from our own incredible Sydney Con lecturers as well as guest lecturers. We covered so many different concepts; the digital audio workstation, synthesis, programming, coding, copyright, notation software, graphics, lighting, sound, video, video editing, developing teaching resources, the DAW-less studio, BYOD, the LMS (Learning Management System) and technological stress. I am so excited to have so many varying perspectives, new software and skills and knowledge up my sleeve, and I'm so keen to keep exploring this in the future as a music educator.
